Avocado · Bushbuckridge

Diepdrift Avocado Project

A large-scale commercial avocado development on the farm Diepdrift in Bushbuckridge, in partnership with The Fruit Farm Group South Africa. Phase 1 comprises 300 hectares and 120,000 trees commencing in 2026, with Phase 2 adding a further 300 hectares from late 2027.

  • Serves the Diepdrift CPA and Inyaka Waterval CPA communities
  • Offtake arrangements in place for oil-grade avocado
  • Engaging development finance institutions to fund delivery
  • Total projected investment exceeds R103 million
Agroforestry nursery · Highveld

Zulu Witrand Nursery (ZWN)

A community-owned agroforestry nursery operated by the Zulu Communal Property Association on 20.75 hectares in the Mpumalanga Highveld, using internationally proven Air-Pot propagation technology.

  • Produces climate-resilient fruit and nut trees (apple, walnut, almond, pecan, hazelnut)
  • Supplies the Greening Mpumalanga programme
  • Bankable business plan, five-year financial model and 24-month delivery schedule completed
  • Funder-ready, with equipment finance and grant funding under development
Carbon & agroforestry · Province-wide

Greening Mpumalanga

A twofold reforestation and agroforestry programme across the Lowveld and Highveld, focused on carbon sequestration and carbon stock preservation, with verified carbon credit revenues for communities.

  • Lowveld: 3 million marula and 500,000+ avocado, mango, litchi, coffee & citrus trees
  • Highveld: walnut, almond, pecan & hazelnut
  • To be registered with Verra under the VM0047 ARR methodology
  • Spans the Sabie and Sand River basins near the Kruger National Park
  • HACCP-certified processing for juicing, drying, canning, freezing, cold storage & packaging
Industrial hemp · Consortium

Hemp Programme

A detailed plan for introducing industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa) as an agricultural commodity in Mpumalanga, developed in consortium with MGCA and the Nkomazi SEZ.

  • Positions Mpumalanga as an early mover in the SA hemp economy
  • Applications in fibre, oil, food and construction materials
